From 17 to 21 August 2023, the 21st Chinese Young Soil Scientists and 16th Chinese Young Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Conference was hosted by SSSC, Working Committee on Youth of SSSC and Chinese Society of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Science (CSPNF) in Zunyi to demonstrate research progress in soil, plant nutrition, agricultural ecological environment and interdisciplinary integration with more than 500 attendees.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Yanmin Liu, Vice President of Zunyi Normal University, and three reports were made by Prof. Wei Zhou, CSPNF President, Prof. Yongguan Zhu, SSSC Vice President, and Prof. Xinbin Feng from the Institute of Geochemistry, CAS (IGCAS). The conference organized 9 sessions, “Soil bio-ecology & soil health”, “Soil chemistry & soil environment”, “New pollutants & soil remediation”, “Soil erosion & soil and water conservation”, “Plant nutrition & non-point source pollution”, “Solid waste disposal & fertilizer development and utilization”, “Soil remote sensing & information science”, and “Soil and plant nutrition interdisciplinarity” for over 50 scholars to present their research progress, and 6 sessions for graduates in soil science, plant nutrition and fertilizer science.

During the closing ceremony, professors from Northwest A&F University, ISSCAS, IGCAS, Nanjing Agricultural University and Wenzhou University also presented their reports in wheat health, cadmium pollution in cultivated land, carbon neutrality in agriculture, etc.
