• CAST holds meeting to implement mutual recognition agreement on engineering capability

    The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) held a meeting to discuss how to better implement the mutual recognition agreements signed with the partner organizations of some countries on engineering capability in hybrid form of on-line and on site on December 18, 2023.


    Luo Hui, member of the leading Party members group and director general of the Department of International Affairs of CAST, addressed the meeting.


    More than 60 officials from the Department of International Affairs of CAST, the Secretariat of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE), relevant national societies and local branches, universities, and enterprises attended the meeting.


    The meeting believed that it was needed to speed up implementation of the agreements to build a world-class team of eminent engineers, thus serving quality-oriented Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and enhancing the openness, mutual-trust and win-win cooperation of the international engineering communities.


    The meeting called upon relevant CAST’s national societies and local branches to shoulder their responsibilities and take concrete actions.


    At present, the CSE has signed mutual recognition agreements on engineering capability with the Myanmar Engineering Council (MEC), the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES), and the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).


    The CSE has also signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Engineering Capability Building with the MEC, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (IEI), the Association for Engineering Education of Russia, and The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
