Luo Hui, member of the leading Party members group and director general of the Department of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with Mr. Li Yizhang, president of the Belt and Road International Science Education Coordinating Committee (BRISECC), and Mr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, vice president of the committee and winner of 2020 Chinese Government's Friendship Award in Beijing on May 18, 2023.

Relevant heads of the Children and Youth Science Center (CYSC) of CAST, and Liu Minhua, vice president of Beijing Technology and Business University, attended the meeting.

Luo Hui thanked Mr. Li Yizhang and Mr. Manzoor for their long-term efforts to promote science and education cooperation among countries and regions in the Belt and Road region.

She noted that CAST always put emphasis on gathering consensus and building cooperative network for international sci-tech circles. CAST would pay concerted efforts to promote sci-tech exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations with scientists, engineers, and youngsters as the major participants to weave the scientific and humanity cooperative network in the Belt and Road countries.

Li Yizhang said that the BRISECC has been committed to promoting international science education cooperation and people-to-people exchanges since it was initiated. And the Maker Camp Program has attracted teachers and students from 70 plus countries and regions to participate under the framework of the BRISECC, demonstrating the strong appeal of the Global Civilization Initiative emphasized by President Xi Jinping.

Manzoor Hussain Sommro said that he would promote the establishment of the science communication network alongside the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the application of China’s sci-tech achievements to cultivate sci-tech professionals with an international vision and advance people-to-people exchanges in the Belt & Road countries.

The BRISECC was initiated by the CYSC with partner science education organizations both domestic and abroad in 2018.

The committee is committed to promoting the sharing of science education resources and talent mobility.

Manzoor Hussain Soomro, vice president of the committee won 2020 Chinese Government's Friendship Award for his outstanding contribution to promoting scientific and educational exchanges and cooperation along the Belt and Road countries.
