Under the theme of "Open Collaboration Promoting Development", the forum discussed how to promote global cooperation and technology transfer under the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation.
Shu Wei, executive secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) addressed the opening ceremony.
Nigel Fine, chief executive secretary of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) delivered an online opening address.
Representatives from research institutes, enterprises, investment organs, academic societies and technology trade service providers at home and abroad participated in the forum both online and offline.
While noting that international cooperation and mutual benefits help boost new development pattern, Shu expressed his expectation that the forum could focus on technology service and trade and establish a global innovation network of industry, university and research institutes.
He advocated a pragmatic and enterprising attitude and an open and inclusive environment to activate innovation-led cooperation.
Fine stressed the necessity of innovative cooperation under the current international situation. He expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with China.
Chen Wenqi, second-level inspector of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee introduced the work schedule of the Network for International Cooperation on Technology Commercialization (NICTC) , saying that the NICTC will make full use of CAST's "Innovation China" platform to connect resources with markets, translate scientific achievements into application and facilitate global technology trade.
7 council members of the NICTC from the U.K., Italy, Germany, and the U.S.sent video messages to the forum, fully affirming the importance of the forum and the network in promoting international cooperation and technology transfer.
At the keynote speech session, Zhu Feng, director of venture capital and general manager of the Strategic Development Department of China's internet giant Baidu, Sergio Cavalieri, chancellor for tech transfer and innovation at the University of Bergamo and member of the Steering Committee of the Italian National Plan on Research led by the Italian Government, and Antony Taubman, director of the Division of Intellectual Property, Government Procurement and Competition of the WTO delivered keynote speeches entitled "Practice and Thinking of How Venture Capital Promotes the Transformation of Scientific and Technical Achievements", "China-Italy Technology Transfer Cooperation Helps Build A China-EU Innovation Hub", and "WTO's Intellectual Property Work and International Technology Trade" respectively.
At the Innovative Cooperation Dialogue session, Vincent Cassidy, director of academic markets of the IET, Carlo Sansone, full professor of computer science at the University of Naples Federico II in Italy, Alexander Yu Li, project manager of Asian affairs, discretionary and independent consultant in INFRANEU and German Strategic GmbH, and vice chairman of INFRAWIND Eurasian, Dr. Lennart BM Svensson, co-founder and manager of Photonic Sweden (PS) and board member of the Swedish Optical Society (SOS), Zhang Yanmin, executive vice president of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Xu Qinhua, secretary general of the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) of the China Energy Research Society (CERS), Dr. He Hong, chief representative of Beijing Office of Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres exchanged ideas on topics such as how to use academic organizations to promote international technology transfer and the industrialization of innovative technologies, and how to leverage resource advantages to promote cross-border industrialization.
A signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement on the Project of Innovative Technology Commercialization Professionals (ITCP) among China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE) , the International Technology Transfer Cooperation Network (ITTN), and the Georgia Institute of Technology was held at the forum.
The International Council of the NICTC was established and the appointment ceremony of the first batch of council members was held at the forum.
Organized by the CISTE, the IET and the Alliance of China-Italy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Partners, and co-organized by the ITTN and the NICTC, the forum also received great support from the Administrative Committee of the Zhongguancun Science Park.
Under the guidance of Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and the CISTE, the NICTC was jointly initiated by 8 units at the 2020 International Technology Trade Fair on ZGC Forum on September 17, 2020.
