    2020 China-ASEAN Summit Forum for Fulfilling Dreams with Joint Efforts opened in Nanning of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR) on November 13, 2020.

     

     

    2020 China-ASEAN Summit Forum for Fulfilling Dreams with Joint Efforts opens in Nanning of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on November 13, 2020.

     

    The forum was co-sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the People's Government of the GZAR, and was co-organized by Guangxi Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Guangxi Association for Science and Technology, Department of Human Resource and Social Security, Investment Promotion Agency, Big Data Development Bureau of the GZAR.

     

    Under the theme of "Gathering talents, wisdom and achievements, creating the future through innovation and entrepreneurship", the forum aims to integrate various innovative elements of politics, industry, education and research through CAST’s "Innovation China" platform to make new contributions to talent exchanges, innovation & entrepreneurship and economic development among China and ASEAN countries.

     

    At the opening ceremony, Zhou Hongbo, vice chairman of the GZAR said that the forum focuses on key and emerging industries and high-tech needs, and strives to provide solutions to hot issues such as talents cultivation, S&T development and innovation & entrepreneurship.

     

    It will integrate various innovative elements through CAST's "Innovation China" platform to promote in-depth integration of technology, industry and economy for win-win results, said Zhou.

     

    Meng Qinghai, vice president and executive secretary of CAST, said that CAST's "Innovation China" platform introduces an "Internet + technology transaction" model to pool innovative elements together for better dynamic operation and full-chain service providing.

     

    The first batch of pilot hubs have been built in 22 counties and cities to introduce talents, technologies and capitals to meet local demands.

     

    The pilot hubs seek for establishing a new model of sci-tech and economy integration, with support from the government and market-oriented operation. As one of the pilot hubs, Nanning is carrying out this work in an all-round way to boost high-quality development, continued Meng.

     

    CAST will help Guangxi to further play its role as a front-line window for ASEAN cooperation and make new contributions to promoting people-to-people exchanges, innovation & entrepreneurship and economic development among China and ASEAN countries, concluded Meng.

     

    The forum was held both online and offline. Yukio Hatoyama, former prime minister of Japan, Shaukat Aziz, former prime minister of Pakistan, and Konstantin Novoselov, 2010 Nobel laureate in Physics, Raul Lambino, presidential adviser for Northern Luzon and chief executive officer of the Cagayan Special Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) of the Philippines, Eliseo Rio Jr, the former undersecretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) of the Philippines, and Dr. Marielza Oliveira, director of the UNESCO Beijing Office, addressed the opening ceremony respectively.

     

    Chen Shiqing, fellow of the American Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Science and Art, and dean of the Third Brain Research Institute of the United States, Lu Dongliang, chairman and president of China-ASEAN Information Harbor, Cao Zejun, vice president of China's telecommunication titan Huawei, Huang Yuxiang, general manager of Ping An Technology, Zhao Zhenggang, vice president of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, Fang Zhigang, vice president and chief technology officer of Siemens PLM Software Greater China delivered keynote speeches respectively at the opening ceremony.

     

    During the event, Zhou Hongbo and Meng Qinghai also visited 2020 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exhibition by High-end Talents From Home and Abroad, World Advanced, Fined, Innovative & Peculiar Technology & Equipment Expo (AFIP Expo), and innovation and entrepreneurship achievements exhibition of high-end talents.

     

    Xi Yang, deputy secretary-general of the People's Government and director of Big Data Development Bureau of the GZAR, and Na Xiang, vice president of the Guangxi Association for Science and Technology, attended the opening ceremony and joined in the exhibition tours.

     

    Leading officials of the member units responsible for talents work in Guangxi, relevant government agencies, universities, enterprises and institutions, representatives of science parks, enterprises, industry associations and research projects, representatives of companies and expert teams participating in the AFIP Expo, representatives of international organizations, international industry associations, and trade promotion agencies, altogether more than 400 people took part in the forum and related activities.

     

    The China-ASEAN Summit Forum for Fulfilling Dreams with Joint Efforts has been held 6 sessions since it was initiated in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2014.

     

    This year’s forum was jointly held with serial events including the 2nd China-ASEAN AI Summit, World Fortune 500 Enterprises Chief Scientists Conference, the AFIP Expo and a symposium of Guangxi-originated outstanding talents, which enriched the connotation of the forum and shaped it a platform promoting China-ASEAN cooperation.
