Zhang Yuzhuo, secretary of the leading Party members group, vice president in charge of daily work, and chief executive secretary of the secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), went to Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing Etown) and the 45th Research Institute of the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC 45) for investigation on July 22, 2022.

Li Shouwu, chairman of the board and deputy secretary of the leading Party members group of the CETC, He Song, vice president of the CETC, and Liu Li, deputy director of the administrative committee of Beijing Etown, accompanied the investigation.

Zhang Yuzhuo visited exhibitions on future plans for Beijing Etown and recent achievements of reform and innovation.

Zhang visited special exhibition on achievements of integrated circuit core equipment and its industrial assembly site, commissioning site of lithography machine, and purification workshop of assembling and commissioning of lithography machine.

The investigation tour made Zhang and his group acquire an in-depth understanding of the development of Beijing Etown, research and development of key semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and development context of domestic lithography industry.

During the investigation tour, Zhang and his group had in-depth exchanges with front-line sci-tech professionals on topics about management and team construction, development plan of Beijing Etown, electronic component equipment of semiconductor manufacturing, and molecular beam epitaxy growth system.

Zhang Yuzhuo remarked that sci-tech innovation relates to a nation’s development and becomes a main stage of competition for all the countries. Under the support of Chinese authorities and with the aim to scale future scientific and industrial heights, Beijing Etown and the CETC 45 endeavored to make prominent breakthroughs targeting the country’s fundamental needs and international scientific frontiers, demonstrating a leading role in building China’s strength in science.

Zhang promised that CAST will join hands with Beijing Etown and the CETC to complement each other's advantages to advance independent innovation of key core technologies, and strengthen integration of innovation and industrial chains to solve "bottleneck" problems of economic development and increase overall efficiency of national innovation system.

Also present at the event were Xu Yanhao, deputy secretary of the leading Party members group of CAST, Shu Wei, Wang Jinzhan, Zhang Guihua, Luo Hui, high ranking officers of CAST, and relevant principals of CAST, Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Beijing Etown, and the CETC 45.
