WRC 2022 opens in Beijing on August 20, 2022.

Cai Qi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the Beijing municipal Party committee, Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), attended the opening ceremony.

Jin Zhuanglong, secretary of the leading Party members group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Zhang Yuzhuo, secretary of the leading Party members group, vice president in charge of daily work and chief executive secretary of the Secretariat of CAST, and Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing, addressed the opening ceremony respectively.

On behalf of the supporting international institutions, Prof. Dr. José Vieira, president of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), delivered a video congratulation message for the event.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Jin Wei, member of the Standing Committee of Beijing municipal Party committee and vice mayor of Beijing.

Co-sponsored by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, MIIT and CAST, , the WRC 2022 was organized by the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE), Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, and the Administrative Committee of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, and got great support from 24 international institutions.                                  

As the largest event in the field of robotics science in China with the highest standard and most affluent international elements, the WRC has been held for 6 years, and become an important brand to integrate science, technology with industrial circles and connect China to the rest of the world as well.

Under the theme of "Cooperate to obtain win-win results", the WRC 2022 consisted of 3 main sections, i.e. World Forum on Robots, World Robot Expo, and World Robot Contest (WRCC), and included 3 thematic summits, 40 plus parallel forums and series of supporting activities both online and on spot.

More than 300 distinguished guests from 15 countries and regions were invited to share research achievements and development trends in robot industry. They also talked about fancy intelligent society in the future.

This year’s forum was ignited by humanoid robots, bionic robots and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) stepping on the stage to deliver speeches.

World Forum on Robots

The 40,000 square meter exhibition halls were swarmed with fire-fighting robots that can work in extreme high temperature, intelligent bionic robot fish swimming around in the pool, UAVs performing aerial stunts, humanoid robots singing melodies, and group robot dogs danced to rythmic beat.

More than 130 tech companies brought about 500 plus exhibits to participate in this year’s expo, 30 plus new products made their debut in the expo, providing visitors with chances to actually feel how robots are changing people’s daily life.

World Robot Expo

The WRCC 2022 which has been widely acclaimed as Olympiad in robotics field, raised its curtain on August 18, 2022.

World Robot Contest

It consisted of 4 competition scenarios: Coexisting-Cooperative-Cognitive Robot Challenge (Tri-Co Robot Challenge), Brain-Computer Interface Control Robot Competition (BCI Brain Control Robot Competition), Youth Robot Design Contest, and Robot Application Contest, including 56 events and 142 competition groups.

The WRCC 2022 received more than 12,000 entry requests. That is a new high record. The applicants were mainly contestants of WRCCs in previous years and winners of regional competitions of 2022.

After strict review, more than 4,000 entries were on the final list to compete for the championship.

The WRCC 2022 is expected to host nearly 60 regional competitions with more than 60,000 contestants to participate across China all year round. Winners of regional competitions will compete for final championship later on.

The WRC 2022 attracted world’s top tech companies to exhibit latest achievements. It gathered global industrial resources and expert wisdom to promote quality-oriented development in the field of robotic science, to advance the Healthy China initiative and build China into a leader in intelligent

manufacturing.

Report on China's robot industry development (2022), proceedings of advanced robotics and automation, top 10 forefront technologies, and top 10 application products were released at the WRC 2022.
