At the moment when 2022 has waved goodbye and 2023 is beckoning, on behalf of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), I would like to extend my sincere New Year wishes to all sci-tech professionals in China!

The just passing-by 2022 is a year with important milestones in the development of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the nation.

The 20th National Congress of the CPC sounded the clarion call of the times to build a modern socialist country in all respects and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee, CAST has united and led the Chinese sci-tech professionals to study, publicize and implement the instructions of the 20th Party Congress, focusing on the target of the tasks, upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground, and empowering the grassroots units with a spirit of opening up and collaborating.

Under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee, CAST has assumed its responsibilities in strengthening theoretical and political guidance, serving as a bridge that links the Party and government with Chinese sci-tech professionals, deepening the reform of the functioning system of CAST, mobilizing all positive factors and pooling as much strength as possible for collective endeavors to achieve sci-tech self-reliance and strengthening.

The departing 2022 is a glorious year in China’s science and technology history.

China launched its first domestically developed aircraft carrier Shandong in June, and sent its first comprehensive solar probe Kuafu-1 into space in October. China put Baihetan hydropower plant into full operation in July, fulfilled the last task in the construction of Tiangong space station in November, and delivered large-scale aircraft C919 into operation in December.....

Science and technology is providing increasingly great support in promoting economic and social development, enhancing comprehensive national power and meeting people’s everyday needs.

Proud and confident, the Chinese people overcome difficulties and risks and press ahead on the path of Chinese socialism.

At this moment of welcoming the new year and celebrating family reunion, we know that in laboratories, hospitals, assembly workshops and overseas construction sites, tens of millions of Chinese people are still at their posts.

They are still working hard with perseverance in distant testing sites for sci-tech breakthroughs, combating COVID pandemic in emergency rooms of hospitals, taking overtime work for production and busy with overseas infrastructure constructions.

We never forget that at this moment, countless scientific peak scalers are confronting challenges to build China into a country strong in science and technology, countless sci-tech professionals are devoting themselves to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, countless medical workers are working tirelessly day and night to safeguard people’s lives and health.

They stay true to their original aspiration and serve the nation with their scientific and technological expertise. They are so occupied and dedicated, even having no time for meal or rest.

2023 is the opening year to implement the blueprint of development formulated at the 20th Party Congress, and we all are quite ready to set sail.

I beckon that CAST and its grassroots organizations will continue to assume responsibilities to serve as a bridge to link the Party and the government with Chinese sci-tech professionals, make efforts to promote science education, provide assistance to reinvigorate China through developing a quality workforce and take initiatives to embark on a new journey to realize Chinese modernization.

I beckon that CAST and its grassroots organizations will base the development of their own on the great struggle for innovation and creation of all Chinese people and rally the majority of Chinese sci-tech professionals around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core to write a new chapter to build China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.

On the new year eve, I can’t wait to see the blossoming of the spring flowers. And I invite you, my dear friends, together with us, to stride forward to achieve success and meet glories!
