The first set of Book Series on History of Chinese Learned Societies were published recently.  The first set of 13 volumes, introduced the history of 13 learned societies including the China Physical Society, the Chinese Chemical Society, the Chinese Society of Oceanography, the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and etc.  The chronicles of these societies and some precious historical photos were included in the book.

The book series not only offers rich and valuable resources to the study of the history of Chinese science and technology, but also provides a means to popularize science to the public, commented Prof. Feng Changgen, executive secretary of CAST while mentioning the book series.  It attracted the reader by stories of scientists, and analysis of scientific events, which will make more people to understand the nature of science, and to make more people to be acquainted with the history of learned societies.
