The inauguration ceremony of the new premises of China Science and Technology Museum was held in Beijing on September 16, 2009. The new premises, now the most modernized museum of its kind in China, located in Beijing's Olympic Green, covers an area of 48,000 square meters with a construction scale of 102,000 square meters.
Mr. Wang Zhaoguo, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, attended and announced the open of the new premises.

Han Qide, president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Lu Yongxiang, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology and Xu Kuangdi, president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Deng Nan, executive vice president of CAST, Yuan Jiajun, president of China Academy of Space Technology, Qi Rang, vice president of CAST, and other leaders of CAST Feng Changgen, Cheng Donghong, Zhang Qin and Yuan Zhengmin, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Han Qide, president of CAST, delivered the inauguration speech at the ceremony. He recalled the cordial concern and sincere expectation shown by the several generations of Party and state leaders for China Science and Technology Museum over the last two decades and fully affirmed the significant achievement made by the museum since its official foundation in 1988. In his speech, Han also encouraged the museum to take the inauguration of the new premises as a pivot to make new and greater contributions to the enhancement of science literacy of all Chinese citizens.

The new premises of the museum has been designated as the main venue of the 2009 National Scince Day activities in Beijing from September 16 to 19 and will officially open to the public on September 20. |
