The ceremony of the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Institute of Electronics was held on April 18 in Beijing. Mr. Hu Qili, former Minister of Electronic Industry and former president of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, Mr. Wu Jichuan, honorable president of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, Mr. Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Prof Chen Xi, executive vice president and chief executive secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology, attended the event with around 400 participants.

Found in 1962, the Chinese Institute of Electronics is a learned society composed of scientific and technological personnel from Chinese electronics and information community and related enterprises and institutions. It has more than 100,000 personal members and more than 600 organizational members. The Chinese Institute of Electronics is affiliated to the China Association for Science and Technology as an organizational member. With the support from relevant institutions, the Chinese Institute of Electronics has become an influential scientific and technological organization in the field of electronics and information technology both abroad and at home.

At the ceremony, CAE academician Wu Hequan and Li Deyi, and CAS academician Wang Yangyuan gave lectures on current situation and future trend on communication technology, micro-nano electronics, and information technology.

In congratulation letter sending from Prof Han Qide, president of the China Association for Science and Technology, he extends his warm congratulation to the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Institute of Electronics and hope that CIE could make more contribution to the sustainable and healthy development of electronics and information technology undertakings and turning China from a large nation of electronics and information technology undertakings to a strong nation of electronics and information technology undertakings. Sister organizations like China Institute of Communication, China Federation of Computer, international organizations like IEIP and IEET also sent the congratulations.
