On April 15, 2012, the 18th National Cancer Week that was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Anti-cancer Association (CACA) and the Cancer Foundation of China, was inaugurated in Beijing.
Chen Xi, executive vice president and chief executive secretary of CAST, Hao Xishan, president of the Chinese Anti-cancer Association, and Peng Yu, director of the Cancer Foundation of China, attended the inauguration ceremony and flied a flock of doves as a of life and hope. More than 200 medical workers, 50 university volunteers and 36 media reporters also attended the activity
The theme for the 18th National Cancer Week is “Science of Cancer Control, Care for People’s Life: Diet and Cancer”, aiming at increasing the public awareness of the importance of cancer prevention, advocating a healthy dietary lifestyle, promoting the standardized treatment, and mobilizing all social forces to provide all kinds of support to cancer patients, such as the supports of information, affections, belongings, and materials.
80 cancer survivors from Beijing Anti-Cancer Club performed the body building exercises.
After the inauguration ceremony, Hao Xishan and other experts met with the media at a press conference.
