As recently announced by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Ministry of Finance, 210 associations of rural professional technologies, 210 pilot bases for rural science popularization and 10 science popularization work teams in regions inhabited by ethnic minorities are given the title of "2007 Rural Science Popularization Leading Units of the Nation", 220 farmers with professional skills and science popularization volunteers are given the title of“2007 Rural Science Popularization Leaders of the Nation”

The total fund-in-aid used in the program for "benefiting farmers and revitalizing countryside by means of popularization of science" has been doubled for 2007, reaching RMB 100 million yuan. The total number of candidates for fund-in-aid rises from last year's 310 to this year's 650. More over, the RMB 50 million yuan increased this year is totally injected in supporting the associations of rural professional technologies, pilot bases for rural science popularization and rural science popularization leaders in the country's underdeveloped middle and western regions.

It is reported that the distribution plan of fund-in-aid for 2007 remains the same as that of 2006. Fund-in-aid is awarded to outstanding units and individuals in the Program: RMB 200,000 yuan to each association for rural professional technologies, RMB 200,000 yuan to each outstanding pilot base for rural science popularization, RMB 500,000 yuan to each science popularization work team in regions inhabited by ethnic minorities, and 50,000 to each science popularization leader.
