Over the years, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has established linkages with over 40 organizations in more than 20 countries, and has signed cooperative agreements or MOUs with them.

Recently, CAST focused more on exchanges and communications with partners in USA, EU countries, Russia, Japan and Korea, and conducted some cooperation on practical technologies with organizations in the neighboring countries like DPRK and Vietnam. Through these activities, CAST strengthened its linkages with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Korean Union of Science and Technology, and similar organizations in Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam, maintained a friendly relationship with the Royal Society of the UK, the British Association for the Advancement of Science, VDI-The Association of German Engineers, the Institute of Engineers of Australia, and opened up its cooperation with the US National Academy of Sciences, and the Science Council of Japan.

The cooperation, which features various forms such as exchange of visits of scientists, engineers and administrative persons, exchange of information and publications, holding bilateral meetings and conferences, etc., covers a wide range of areas, including frontiers of scientific disciplines, engineering, public understanding of science and technology, capacity building of science, ethics in science and social responsibility of scientists and engineering, accreditation of engineers'qualification and engineering education, science education, commercialization of scientific findings, etc.

The bilateral cooperation between CAST and its overseas partners has greatly promoted the domestic work of CAST in various aspects and has strengthened the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese scientists and engineers and their colleagues of various countries.
