Following the recommendation and selection by China's national academic societies, local S&T associations, and the Personnel Bureau of the General Political Department of the Prople's Liberation Army (PLA), and after a ballot-casting of the general public, a committee organized by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) for selecting and evaluating the country's outstanding sceintific and technological workers released its selection results on Dec. 13, 2010, which had been duly approved by the Standing Committee of (CAST). A total of 977 people have been honored with the title of "Outstanding S&T Worker of China", and 10 of them have been honored as the Top 10 Outstanding S&T Workers of China.
In a news bullet issued by CAST on Dec. 13, it was pointed out that those who had won the honor of "Outstanding S&T Workers of the Country" are prominent representatives of the country's S&T force. In their daily work, they have made outstanding efforts and achieved remarkable progress. Working with the spirit of innovation, cooperation and sacrifice, they have contributed significantly to the overall enhancement of the S&T level of the country, to the economic and social development, and to the improvement of people's well-being. The Top 10 among them are especially honorable.
CAST appeals to all the S&T personnel in China to learn from those who have been honored, and devote themselves to the build-up of an innovative country.
