The awarding ceremony of the 10th "Young Scientists of Tomorrow" Award, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE), China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and Hong Kong H. S. Chau Foundation, was held on Nov 22 in Middle School Affiliated to Renmin University of China. One hundred high school students from 23 provinces, autonomous regions and mucipalities under central jurisdiction were rewarded first, second and third prizes. Xu Shuo from Jilin Experimental School, Xie Yaqing from Middle School Affiliated to Renmin University of China and Cao Rentian from Liaoning Experimental School were honored with the title of "Young Scientist of Tomorrow".

Mme. Deng Nan, vice president and chief executive secretary of CAST, Mr. Wu Degang, Assitant Minister of MOE, Mme. Wei Yu, vice president of CAST, Mme. Cheng Donghong, executive secretary of CAST, Miss Solina Chau from Hong Kong H. S. Chau Foundation and some renowned Chinese scientists were present at the ceremony and presented prizes to the awardees.
In her remarks on behalf of CAST, Mme. Cheng Donghong hoped that young students would be more concerned with society and public interest, make their mind to scale the heights of science and try to become the pillar in the building of the motherland.
"Young Scientists of Tomorrow" rwarding scheme was set up in 2000. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the scheme, the organizing committee delivered a special award to Mme. Wei Yu, for her eminent contribution in initiating the scheme and restless efforts to fuel its development.
