Zhang Xinyou is a researcher and vice president of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Zhang Xinyou and his team have bred 23 new peanut varieties. He established the seed breeding technology system for the distant hybridization of peanuts, successfully bred the world-class "Yuanza 9102" and other hybrid varieties of seeds, and developed a technology for transgenetic peanut, through which he obtained the transgenetic strains with remarkable increase in oleic acid content. Following their significant achievements in molecular seed breeding, Zhang and his team have applied their new peanut varieties in over 95 million mu （15.58 million acres）, and have achieved outstanding social and economic benefits. Zhang has obtained 2 second "National Awards for S&T Progress", published over 40 papers and 7 academic works.
