Zhang Luo

Zhang Luo is a professor, chief doctor, and a Ph.D supervisor in Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Beijing's Capital Medical University. He is also vice president of Beijing Otolaryngology Institute.

Zhang Luo has been engaged in the clinics and research of surgical ear-nose-throat-neck diseases in the past 17 years. He did his post-doc research in the University of Massachusetts Medical School from 2001 to 2003, and made breakthrough achievements in respiratory physiology.

After coming back to China, Zhang Luo directed the survey on the status of allergic rhinitis among 11 Chinese cities. He took the lead in the research of allergic rhinitis treatment by means of internationally standardized allergic cluster immunization, and confirmed the effectiveness and safety of internationally standardized vaccine in treating Chinese patients with allergic rhinitis. He did the R&D on high-speed digital micro-visualization system, and realized the accurate monitoring of respiratory ciliary movement, as well as the precise measurement of the frequency of ciliary movement, and resolved the bottle-neck problem in the research on the adjustment mechanism of respiratory ciliary movement. He also suggested the most suitable density of regular blood vessel contracting medicine for the safety of the ciliary movement in nasal cavity, and opened up a new field in the medical treatment of rhinitis.

His research achievements won the second-class National S&T Achievement Award.
