General Information
The Chinese Astronomical Society (CAS) was founded in 1922 in Beijing and was moved to Nanjing in 1932. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, CAS became a member of the All-China Federation of Natural Science Societies, the predecessor of the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST). The General Assembly of the Society  is held every four years. The Secretariat is set up to assist the Secretary-general to conduct routine work. In 1935, CAS joined the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as the national member representing China At present, there are 2133 individual members, with 296 as members of IAU. Under CAS there are11 Special Committees, 5 Working Committees, and a Foundation.
