Chinese Scientist Wang Xi elected as president of the Science Council of Asia


Recently at the 17th Conference of the Science Council of Asia held in the Philippines, nominated by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Wang Xi, vice president of CAST, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and director of CAS Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, was successfully elected President of the Science Council of Asia (SCA) and his term of office will begin in June 2018 and end in June 2020.

The Science Council of Asia is one of the important international organisations that CAST has joined on behalf of China. It aims to provide a platform for scientific exchange and cooperation among scientists from Asian countries and regions so that they can make use of science and technology to promote sustainable social development and improve people’s living standards.

Wang Xi taking over as President of SCA will enable us to become influential in science and technology in the world and construct a world power of science and technology. Therefore, it is of great significance.
