The two sides had an in-depth discussion on the development of the intelligent manufacturing industry and the cultivation of new talent in the field.
They also explored how to further promote cooperation between industry, academia and research institutions in a way that better serves the society.
After welcoming the visiting delegation, Huai traced the historical relationship between the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association (CPA) and Japan, and briefed the attendees on CAST’s major work priorities, such as the development of think tanks, academic guidance and science popularization.
Founded in 1907, the CPA is a national professional pharmaceutical organization, and one of the earliest and largest academic organizations in China.
Huai applauded Mitsubishi Electric's achievements in serving small- and medium-sized enterprises with cutting-edge products, and cultivating technical talent, and said that these endeavors were helping to fulfill the company's social responsibilities.
“We hope to strengthen cooperation with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in integrating the industrial supply chain, talent supply chain, and knowledge supply chain and building a high-quality industrial ecosystem so as to upgrade the industry-academia-research innovation mode and better serve society,” he said .
Sugiyama praised China’s development of intelligence and internet technologies. He briefed the attendees on Mitsubishi Electric’s latest application of artificial intelligence-based, high-speed processing technology in its production lines.
“Small- and medium-sized enterprises play an important role in supporting Japan’s manufacturing industry to keep its leading position in the world, and are one of the key factors in Japan’s economic development,” said Sugiyama.
“Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has been committed to providing comprehensive solutions for the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises in the branch of industrial automation and mechatronics. We are willing to work with CAST to construct a more effective information exchange and sharing platform between the industrial and academic communities in China and Japan, and attract more relevant people to achieve industrial goals together,” he concluded.

The two sides also discussed comprehensive information research, preperations for the establishment of an international intelligent manufacturing alliance as well as science and technology finance.
Others in attendance included representatives from the Department of International Affairs of CAST, the association’s Department of Academic and Societies Affairs, the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and the Research Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing from the Intelligent Manufacturing Alliance of CAST Member Societies.
