A forum on Chinese research and innovation co-sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) was held at IVA on Oct. 25, 2018.
Academician Gong Qihuang, a member of the Standing Committee of 9th National Committee of CAST and also vice president of Peking University, academician Xue Qikun, vice president of Tsinghua University, academician Ling Wen, general manager of CHN Energy, and Li Shipeng, vice president of Chinese software enterprise IFLYTEK presented the development of science and technology, quantum physics, energy and artificial intelligence in China respectively during the event.
IVA chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, IVA president Tuula Teeri, IVA vice president-international affairs Magnus Breidne attended the forum.

The forum attracted an audience of over 100, including IVA academicians from more than ten countries as well as people from Sweden's science and technology community.
The presentations given by the Chinese delegates aroused great interest in the audience, and helped them get a deeper understanding of China's national innovation system and an overall view of scientific and technological development in the country.
Audience members also held lively exchanges and discussions with the Chinese scientists.

Prof. Tuula Teeri extended congratulations on the successful hosting of the forum.
"We've now taken a substantial step forward in our cooperation," she said.
The forum represented a further measure to translate into action the speech entitled "Understanding, Trust and Cooperation" of CAST executive vice president Huai Jinpeng at IVA last year.
It also provided another experience for deepening the Sino-Sweden Outstanding Scientists Exchange Program and promoting bilateral sci-tech cooperation, and set the stage for the introduction of a mechanism on facilitating sci-tech and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

In addition, before the Chinese scientists arrived in Sweden, IVA leader Magnus Breidne visited them in Beijing and gave them a detailed introduction about the "Science & Society Forum" and expressed his hope that the latest achievements in science and technology in China could be heard in Sweden. And the Chinese scientists expressed their appreciation of the opportunity to visit IVA and exchange with the Swedish colleagues.
