Prof. Li Jinghai is an academician and vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Mainly engaged in the study on quantitative design and amplification of chemical process, Li has established Energy-Minimization Multi-Scale (EMMS) model, proposed and developed multi-scale computation model, which has been widely used in the simulation of complex systems and the simulation of industrial processes. He is currently devoted to promoting the research in meso scale science. He is the chief scientist of the major meso scale science research program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He holds memberships from the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW), the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). He is editor-in-chief of Particuology and also sits on editorial committees or international advisory boards for several other international periodicals. He was elected vice president of the International Council for Science in 2015.
