China-Russia joint committee for scientific and humanity cooperation holds 4th meeting
The 4th session of the China-Russia Joint Committee on scientific and humanity cooperation was convened in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province on the afternoon of October 28, 2024.
The meeting was jointly presided over by Luo Hui, Executive Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Director General of International Affairs at the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and Drukarenko Sergei Petrovic, Vice President and Executive Secretary of the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations (USEA).
The Secretary-General of the Secretariat for scientific and humanity exchanges and cooperation mechanism, along with the relevant officials from the USEA, presented the 2024 work report and the 2025 work plan.
Leaders from the 14 member entities of the joint committee convened to discuss the key priorities for the next year.
CAST and the USEA inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in September 2019 to further bolster exchanges and cooperation, with a renewal taking place in Moscow in July 2024.
The two entities have established a joint committee mechanism to regularly coordinate people-to-people exchanges, a proposal that has been championed by academic circles in both countries since 2010.
