2024-10-25

Luo Hui, Executive Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Director General of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with the delegation of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals (SACNASP) who came to China to attend the 2024 World Science and Technology Development Forum (WSTDF 2024) in Beijing on October 23, 2024. The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening Sino-South African ties in the realm of science and technology, as both parties discussed avenues for future collaboration and exchange.

Representatives from CAST and the SACNASP reached consensus on advancing their collaborative efforts. The two parties have agreed to jointly implement the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation that was signed between them, aiming to foster regular exchanges and dialogues within the sci-tech communities of both nations.

This collaboration seeks to deepen mutual understanding and focus on academic exchanges in key areas such as clean energy and green low-carbon technologies.

Emphasis will be placed on the leading role of young sci-tech talents, underlining the importance of nurturing the next generation of innovators.

In order to solidify this partnership, a long-term mechanism for exchange and cooperation will be established. As part of this initiative, a serial of scientific and humanity activities are planned to take place in South Africa in 2025.

These events will further strengthen the bond between the two countries and contribute to global scientific progress and cultural understanding.
