Luo Hui meets with global engineering leaders

Luo Hui, Executive Secretary and Director General of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), convened meetings with global engineering leaders in Taizhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province, on the sidelines of the 2024 International Engineering Congress (2024 IEC) which was held on November 7-8, 2024. Luo also serves as Vice President and Joint Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE).

During the high-level engagements, Luo Hui held discussions with representatives from prestigious engineering bodies, including the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and Pacific (FEIAP), the Panamerican Union of Engineers Associations (UPADI), and the International Engineering Alliance (IEA).

The conversations centered on enhancing collaborative efforts in the realms of international engineering education and capacity development.

Furthermore, Luo Hui engaged in constructive dialogues with engineering organization heads from Myanmar, Pakistan, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. These meetings aimed at bolstering mutual recognition in engineering fields and fostering bilateral exchanges in science, technology, and culture.

During the prestigious 2024 IEC in Taizhou, the CSE took significant steps to fortify its global engineering partnerships.

The CSE renewed the mutual recognition agreement for engineers with the Myanmar Engineering Council (MEC), reaffirming their commitment to professional excellence and collaboration.

Additionally, the CSE renewed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), aimed at enhancing cooperation in engineering fields.

In a significant move, the CSE also signed a new MoU with the Institution of Engineers Rwanda, marking a fresh chapter in Sino-Rwandan engineering collaboration.

These agreements reflect a shared vision among relevant national engineering organizations to support the establishment of the "Belt and Road" engineering organization federation and BRICS engineering organizations.

This consensus underscores a collective effort to promote engineering standards and cooperation on an international scale.

Officials from the Department of International Affairs of CAST, along with representatives from the China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE) and the CSE, were in attendance, participating in various activities throughout the congress.

Their participation highlights China's ongoing efforts to integrate with the international engineering community and to contribute to the development of global engineering standards and practices.
