CAST signs a letter of intent for cooperation with UNESCO
Recently, He Junke, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group, Executive President, and Chief Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and Lidia Arthur Brito, Assistant Director General for Natural Sciences of UNESCO, held talks in Paris, France and signed a letter of intent for cooperation, reaching agreements on enhancing the scientific literacy of global citizens, building international engineering capabilities, and promoting open science cooperation.
After the signing ceremony, He and Brito addressed a Roundtable Discussion on Empowering the Global Community Through Scientific Literacy.
While stressing that the development of human society poses challenges to technological advances, He noted that only by means of the enhancement of scientific literacy of the general public, can consensus be enhanced, divides be bridged, and governance synergy be formed.
He concluded that CAST is always willing to contribute to enhancing global scientific literacy from common values to common actions. And CAST will strengthen exchanges and share views with worldwide peers to achieve the goal of Empowering the Global Community Through Scientific Literacy.
