CAST sends New Year's greetings to all sci-tech professionals in China for year 2025

Time flows, seasons change, and the new year begins. On the occasion of the arrival of the 2025 New Year, on behalf of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), we would like to extend our holiday greetings and sincere wishes to sci-tech professionals across the country!

In the past year, the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee set sail to further deepen reform and promote Chinese path to modernization, and the national sci-tech conference issued a strong voice of the times to build China into a nation with strength in science and technology by 2035.

The 20th National Congress of the CPC sounded the clarion call of the times to build a modern socialist country in all respects and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The sound of the clarion call marked the beginning of a new journey, inspiring the majority of Chinese sci-tech professionals to rally around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and make continuous efforts to achieve sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening at higher levels.

Embarking on the path to becoming a powerhouse in science and technology, China has taken each step with a resounding impact and illuminated every moment with the glow of innovation.

For 5 consecutive years, the country has led the world in PCT international patent applications, consistently holding the top spot for the total number of R&D personnel, and boasting 26 of the world's top 100 technology innovation clusters.

These milestones signify the pinnacle of China's technological innovation, and provide a robust boost to the global advancement of science and technology.

With soaring ambition, we stand resolute and ascend to new pinnacles.

In the realms of quantum probing, life sciences, material research, and space exploration, "Lasso" has confirmed the first super cosmic ray source, and the self-developed water-cooled magnets has set a world record.

Relentlessly, we have pushed the boundaries of science into the realms of the extreme macro, the intricate micro, and the harshest conditions, and we have developed new interdisciplinary fields, consistently stretching the envelope of human knowledge.

China has achieved a series of monumental milestones in science and technology, marking significant progress on the global stage. The successful operation of the world’s largest offshore wind turbine, the successful ignition of the independently developed F-class heavy-duty gas turbine, and the successful Chang'e-6 lunar sample return mission are just a few of the country's recent accomplishments.

The rapid advancement of the Shenzhou Manned Spacecraft and Tianzhou Cargo Spacecraft, the oceanic explorations by the first China-made ultradeep ocean drillship Mengxiang (also known as “Dream”), the completion of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor that boosts the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the extensive high-speed rail network that spans the nation, and the operation of the Qinling Station for Antarctic scientific investigation are all testaments to China's robust scientific and technological strides.

Furthermore, the widespread implementation of artificial intelligence, groundbreaking innovations in brain-like chip technology, the rapid evolution of genetic technologies, and the stable development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) are driving the new quality productive forces to become increasingly tangible and vivid.

These advancements are not only shaping the future of technology but also propelling high-quality economic and social development, positioning China at the forefront of global innovation.

With talent at the forefront, we are poised to make our mark in this era and open a brilliant new chapter.

The fusion of education, science and technology, and talent is gathering momentum at a rate never seen before. The newly amended Law of the People's Republic of China on the Popularization of Science and Technology has fortified the spread of scientific knowledge with a robust legal framework. The Spirit of Chinese Scientists is now more deeply ingrained in both the scientific community and across society.

A multitude of dedicated sci-tech professionals, eager to contribute to their nation, are emerging and making their presence felt.

In national laboratories, research institutes, universities, and cutting-edge tech companies, these sci-tech professionals are in a relentless race against time to decipher the mysteries of knowledge and tackle technical challenges.

Every significant data milestone signifies a profound dialogue between human ingenuity and the fundamental principles of nature, with each burst of insight holding the potential to spark a revolution in technological progress.

The steadfast dedication of these pioneers, enduring through the years, continues to reverberate and evoke a sense of profound admiration among the public.

Embracing popularity, we stand resolute in our gaze towards the world and march forward with determination.

The tide of innovation is inherently linked to high-level, open cooperation. Guided by the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, China's international sci-tech cooperation "circle of friends" is growing.

This expansion spans from the "Belt and Road" initiative to the "BRICS+" framework and then to the G20 Summit.

It encompasses everything from training for scientific researchers, to aiding in the construction of technical projects, and then to joint collaborations on large-scale scientific programs and engineering projects.

From the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, to Peru's Qian Kai Port, and to the blossoming of numerous "Chinese parks" and "Chinese cities" worldwide, China and its partner countries are joining hands to inject new momentum into global sustainable development.

Through extensive academic exchanges and the transfer of innovative achievements, China has confronted global challenges with an open stance, showcasing its responsibility and commitment to building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.

The dawn of the new year heralds the dream of constructing a nation with strength in science and technology.
