Mutiple key outcomes unveiled at the side event of China Pavilion at COP30 themed “Low-Carbon Technology Innovation and Industrial Practice”

On November 15, 2025 local time, the side event of China Pavilion at COP30 themed “Low-Carbon Technology Innovation and Industrial Practice” was held in Belém, Brazil, with multiple key outcomes were unveiled during the event.

Chen Sheng, Vice President of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, unveiled the Carbon Footprint Factor Database and Intelligent Service Platform. Developed independently by the Academy, this platform establishes a comprehensive digital public service system for carbon footprint management, integrating “one-stop services, full-process coverage, and multi-scenario application.” By deeply integrating artificial intelligence technology with localized data, the system addresses the dual challenges of using localized accounting and meeting international standards for carbon data across entire industrial chains.

Yu Junjie, Deputy Director of the Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of Chins, released the “2025 National Catalog of Low-Carbon Technologies for Promotion (Fifth Batch) - China’s Low-Carbon Technologies in Practice.” These cases demonstrate a diverse and systematic set of low-carbon solutions through various technological pathways, including energy structure optimization, resource recycling, process efficiency improvement, digital management, and end-of-pipe treatment.

Jarad Daniels, CEO of the Global CCS Institute, released the report titled “Global Status of Carbon Capture and Storage 2025”. The report provides a comprehensive assessment of the current state of global carbon capture and storage technology development in 2025, outlines trends looking ahead to 2030, and identifies key enablers for accelerating large-scale deployment of the technologies.

Additionally, Yao Juanjuan, Expert Advisor of the China Merchants Testing Vehicle Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., launched the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) tool for the automotive industry, the world’s first digital EPD tool specifically for this sector. Wang Xiaoguang, Director of the Sustainable Development Department/Dual-Carbon Strategy Promotion Department of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, released the “Report on Green Transformation Practices of Chinese Enterprises.”

This event was jointly organized by the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, China Federation of Industrial Economics, China Association for the Promotion of Industrial Development, among others. It’s one of a series of activities organized for the CAST International Month 2025: Openness, Cooperation, Trust. Held under the theme “S.T.I. Bridges, Humanity Orients,” International Month 2025 brings international science and technology organizations, local governments, national societies, and provincial associations together to deepen dialogue and expand cooperation between Chinese and international scientists for shared progress.
