On October 11, Mr. Guo Jianbo, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE), addressed the opening ceremony of the 17th U.S.-China Green Energy Forum. He also delivered a keynote speech titled “Development and Practice of China’s New Power System,” providing in-depth insights from three perspectives: the current status and trends in the development of the new power system, the challenges faced, and the explorations and practices.

Guo Jianbo pointed out that the green transition is not only an essential path to addressing climate change but also a new engine for economic and social development. He emphasized that the U.S.-China Green Energy Forum, as a crucial platform for academic exchanges in the clean energy sector between the two countries, has fully leveraged its role as a bridge for international non-governmental scientific and technological exchanges, fostering global consensus on supporting green development.

He mentioned that the new power system is driven by both technology and policy. It is essential to holistically coordinate the three elements of security, cost-effectiveness, and environmental protection, accelerate innovation in core technologies, and actively strengthen cooperation with the international community.

The 17th U.S.-China Green Energy Forum, hosted by the CSEE and the U.S.-China Green Energy Council, was held in Hengqin, Guangdong Province from October 11 to 12, 2025. The forum focused on the theme “Emerging Technologies Empowering Low-Carbon Transition.” The event is part of a series of activities organized for the CAST International Month 2025: Openness, Cooperation, Trust.
