Guangzhou, February 3 -- The 2026 Spring Festival Gathering for Overseas Chinese Sci-tech Organizations was held in Guangzhou from February 1 to 3.

Sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the event was co-hosted by the China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE), and the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, with the Guangdong Science and Technology Press as a supporting organizer.

The event brought together about 200 participants both online and in person. Attendees included representatives from overseas Chinese sci-techorganizations across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, as well as officials from relevant CAST functioning departments and provincial-level science and technology associations.

Wang Xi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and President of the Guangdong provincial overseas friendship association, delivered a welcome address.

Feng Shenhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President, and Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of CAST, addressed the gathering via video link.

During the meeting, representatives from overseas sci-techorganizations and institutions offered valuable insights and recommendations on strengthening talent exchange and cooperation, advancing technological innovation, and promoting international development.

They pledged to leverage the unique advantage of overseas Chinese sci-tech groups, serve as bridges connecting China with the global scientific community, deepen exchanges and cooperation with domestic partners in strategic priority areas, institutionalize scientific collaboration, build international platforms, support Chinese tech companies in expanding overseas, improve safeguards for talent mobility, and jointly drive high-quality development through sci-tech innovation.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, the Spring Festival Gathering for Overseas Chinese Sci-tech Organizations has become an important platform for CAST to engage with overseas Chinese sci-tech groups, injecting fresh vitality into collaborative efforts by the global sci-tech community to advance innovation and achieve shared development.
