Beijing, April 27 -- Luo Hui, Executive Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met on Monday in Beijing with Hu Shaofeng, Director of the Division of Science Policy and Basic Sciences at UNESCO’s Natural Sciences Sector.
The two sides reviewed the implementation of the letter of intent between CAST and UNESCO. They noted that activities carried out under this framework, including the capacity-building programme for engineering in Africa and the compilation of science and technology policy briefs, have progressed smoothly and achieved remarkable results.
During the meeting, the two parties held an in-depth exchange of views on enhancing public scientific literacy, promoting the role of women scientists and young scientists, and supporting international exchanges among sci-tech personnel.
Both sides agreed to continue deepening pragmatic cooperation and strengthening synergies under the framework of the UN International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033), working together to promote the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Officials from the CAST Department of International Affairs, the China Research Institute for Science Popularization (CRISP), and the China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) also attended the meeting.
