Luo Hui, Executive Secretary and Director General of the Department of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Zhang Shizhen, President of the Gansu Association for Science and Technology, and Hu Shengfa, President of the Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship Alliance, addressed the opening ceremony.
The forum, themed "Advancing Offshore Innovation and Venture Investment," included a commemorative seminar for the 20th anniversary of the forum, a sub-forum on biomedicine, and the 2024 Annual Meeting of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship Alliance, among other activities. These sessions are designed to foster high-level opening-up, deepen the integration of sci-tech advancements and industrial innovation, and support the development of global hubs for innovation.
With nearly 300 participants, including academicians, entrepreneurs, and representatives from the CAST, the forum serves as a platform for in-depth exchanges, ideas-sharing, and consensus-building. Participants are expected to explore cutting-edge research results, identify cooperation opportunities, and jointly chart development strategies, aiming to forge a future of open cooperation and mutual benefit.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the International Forum for Sci-Tech Innovators, and for the first time, it is being held in Northwest China. This significant shift signifies the expansion of China's scientific and technological innovation beyond the major innovation hubs of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, reaching across the entire nation, as noted by Dr Q. Y. Ma, honorary president of the Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship Alliance.
We believe that this event will surely promote the development of the scientific and technological innovation industry in Gansu, Ma said.
The CAST, adhering to the principles of "equality, mutual benefit, openness, pragmatism, lawfulness, and win-win cooperation," is a trustworthy friend and partner for many overseas science and technology counterparts, Luo Hui stated in her speech at the opening ceremony.
