5th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop opens in Nanning of Guangxi Province on November 9, 2021.

Under the theme of “Open to Cooperation & Ready for Innovation”, the event provided 100 plus sci-tech learning and cultural experience resources online and helped build dialogues between scientists and teenagers.

By participating in the event, the campers had the opportunities to acquire cutting-edge knowledge through hands-on activities and cooperate with the best of their age along the BRI countries to make innovative achievements. And scientists and science teachers got the chance to share practices and skills in instructing STEM education programs.

The event is a major part of the Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Action Plan proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2017, which consists of the Science and Technology People-to-People Exchange Initiative, the Joint Laboratory Initiative, the Science Park Cooperation Initiative and the Technology Transfer Initiative.

The recent 5 years have witnessed CAST’s efforts to weave international networks with its world peers including the Economic Cooperation Organization science foundation (ECOSF), the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) to promote closer ties among the young generation and make people-to-people exchanges achieve fruitful outcomes, so as to contribute wisdom and strength of global sci-tech organizations to build a community with shared future for mankind.

Since it was launched in September, the event has linked more than 60 sci-tech organizations both at home and abroad, held 9 scientific seminars, carried out nearly 60 live broadcasts of science and science communication lectures, gathered nearly 1,000 scientists and science education experts, and attracted students and teachers from 53 countries, regions and international organizations to take part.

China’s national media platforms such as Xinhuanet and CCTV reported the event, enlarging its social influences and arousing warm public response.
