Luo Hui, member of the leading Party members group and director general of the Department of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) met with Mustafa Shehu, president-elect of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) in Beijing on July 27, 2023.

The two sides had in-depth discussions on promoting further cooperation between CAST and WFEO.

Gong Ke, past president of WFEO and chairman of China National Committee of WFEO, Ling Wen, vice chairman of China National Committee of WFEO, and president of Shandong Association for Science and Technology (SAST), Li Ruomei, China national member of WFEO, and He Jing, observer of the Committee on Engineering and the Environment (CEE), deputy chief architect of the China Institute of Building Standard Design & Research attended the event.

Luo Hui noted that WFEO is an important force to promote the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and is an important platform for CAST to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the international engineering community.

Luo hoped that CAST could join hands with WFEO to practice  the concept of engineering for sustainable development and carry out more practical cooperation.

Mustafa Shenhu thanked CAST for its long-term support to WFEO. He noted that CAST is an important member and partner of WFEO, and looked forward to achieving more results in cooperation with the CAST side and Chinese engineering organizations and institutions.

Relevant officers of the Department of International Affairs and the National Communication Center for Science and Technology of CAST participated in the event.
