• CAST-AAAS cooperation re-affirmed through meetings with publisher of Science family Bill Moran

    Zhang Guihua, member of the leading Party members group and executive secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) met with Bill Moran, publisher of Science family and his delegation who came to China to participate in the 6th Forum for World STM Journals in Xi'an on June 18, 2023.



    The two sides exchanged views on the cooperation between CAST and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) under the framework of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation.


    Zhang Guihua reviewed the cooperative achievements of CAST and the AAAS over the past 40 years. He hoped the two sides would carry out practical cooperation in the fields of academic exchanges, public understanding of science, STM journals publication and talent cultivation. Zhang believed the endeavors would enhance mutual trust and forge a bond of friendship of the two countries.


    Bill Moran presented regards and partnership recognition from Sudip Parikh, chief executive officer of the AAAS. He expressed his hope to build platforms  to carry out more people-to-people exchanges and amplify the voice of the sci-tech communities of the two countries.


    The two sides expressed their willingness to help and support each other's academic activities, especially in the fields of young talent cultivation and open science promotion.


    Also present at the meeting were heads from the Department of Sci-tech Innovation of CAST, the Science and Technology Review Publishing House and China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE).


    During their stay in China, Moran and his colleagues paid a visit to the Science and Technology Review Publishing House affiliated to CAST to have discussions with relevant personnel on promotion of Science Partner Journal (SPJ) Research, discipline distribution of STM journals, construction of database, and jointly hosting academic conferences.
