• He Junke meets with winner of 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award

    He Junke, secretary of the leading Party members group, vice president in charge of daily work, and chief executive secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with Yvon Le Maho, winner of the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award, member of the Executive Committee of the International Zoological Society (IZS), and academician of the French Academy of Sciences in Beijing on February 5, 2024.


    Also present at the meeting were Zhang Zhibin, executive director of the IZS, and Luo Hui, member of the leading Party members group of CAST and director general of the Department of International Affairs.


    He Junke congratulated Professor Maho on winning the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award, and extended New Year's blessings and greetings to him. He thanked Maho for his contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and France.


    He Junke noted that 2024 marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. He hoped that Maho would  continue to promote academic exchanges and cooperation among Chinese and French scientists and technologists, and add new brilliance to the friendship of the two sides.


    Maho thanked the Chinese government for granting him the honor.


    He briefed his efforts in biodiversity conservation, and applauded China’s increasingly important role in jointly addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development.


    He emphasized the significance of conducting cooperation with China, and promised to make continuous efforts to promote sci-tech exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.


    After the meeting, the IZS held a sideline to celebrate Maho’s winning of the highest award available for foreign experts.


    Relevant officers from CAST, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the French Embassy in China, relevant international organizations and representatives of overseas students attended the sideline.
