China Mobile Science and Technology Museum's international tour kicks off in Nepal
The China Mobile Science and Technology Museum Nepal International Tour was held in B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium and Observatory and Science Museum in Kathmandu on February 12, 2025.
The Nepalese officials who attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches included Ms. Bidya Bhattarai, Minister of Education, science and Technology of Nepal, Mr. Bishwo Babu Pudasaini, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Nepal (in charge of science and technology work) and Chairman of the Development Committee of the B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium and Observatory and Science Museum.
The Chinese officials included Chen Song, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, and Guo Zhe, Director General of the China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM).
This "Spark Pavilion" international tour showcases a total of 60 exhibits, covering multidisciplinary fields such as life sciences and information technology, integrating cutting-edge technologies including intelligent robots and glasses-free 3D TVs.
The mobile ball screen cinema showcases themes including aerospace and dinosaurs through stereoscopic imaging, providing an immersive experience for the audience. The exhibition is planned to tour Nepal for 3 years, during which China and Nepal will engage in in-depth cooperation in personnel exchange and training, course development, and other areas.
The year 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal. This tour is an important measure to implement the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping and the joint statement between the two countries, and also an important part of promoting the cooperation framework agreement between the governments of the two countries on jointly promoting the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
It will effectively promote the development of scientific and cultural exchanges, science communication, and science education between China and Nepal.
The Program of the China Mobile Science and Technology Museum was initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and implemented by the CSTM in 2011, with the aim of communicating science to benefit the general public and enhancing the scientific literacy of the entire population.
The program has toured more than 700 sets domestically, serving over 200 million people in nearly 2000 counties.
Since the program launched its international tour in 2018, it held exhibitions in countries including Myanmar, Cambodia, Russia, and Malaysia, and has been widely welcomed, promoting multilateral scientific and cultural exchanges and people-to-people friendship.
