Wan Gang engages with Falling Walls Foundation Chairman Jürgen Mlynek in high-level talks
Wan Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with Jürgen Mlynek, Chairman of the Board of the Falling Walls Foundation, during the latter's visit to Beijing for the 2024 World Science and Technology Development Forum (WSTDF 2024) on October 23, 2024. The meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss areas of mutual interest and strengthen ties between their respective organizations.

Wan Gang extended a warm welcome to Mlynek to participate in the WSTDF 2024, which took place in Beijing on October 22. During their meeting, Wan Gang provided an overview of China's significant strides in hastening the transition to a low-carbon, eco-friendly economy and highlighted the country's efforts in bolstering the growth of the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector.
He expressed hope that in the future, the academic and industrial sectors of both nations would enhance their collaboration on sustainable development initiatives, fostering a mutually beneficial and win-win situation for China-Germany and China-Europe relations, thereby advancing shared prosperity.
Mlynek lauded China's remarkable progress in energy structure transformation and the burgeoning NEV industry.
He emphasized the importance of international collaboration in fundamental research and expressed his aspiration for the scientific and technological communities of China and Germany to intensify their interactions. This, he believes, will pave the way for more groundbreaking research that can contribute to the betterment of humanity.
During the meeting, representatives from both sides engaged in a comprehensive dialogue on cutting-edge topics, including quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and biomedicine.
The gathering was also graced by the presence of senior officers from the Department of International Affairs of CAST.
