Main Event of 2025 National Science and Technology Workers Day Held in Beijing

The main event for the 2025 National Science and Technology Workers Day was held at the National Communication Center for Science and Technology (NCCST) in Beijing on May 30, 2025.

 

This year marks the 9th National Science and Technology Workers Day. The event attracted more than 400 attendees including Wan Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), representatives of senior scientists and their relatives, members of the Expert Committee of the project of “Collecting Historic Data of Scientists’ Academic life”, science and technology workers from Beijing, officials from relevant central ministries and departments, and Executive Secretaries of the leading Party members group and Secretariat of the CAST.

 

Wan Gang emphasized in his speech that the blueprint for building China a nation with strength in science and technology by 2035 has been drawn up. He called for China’s scientific community to rally around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, serve national strategies, and enrich the contemporary connotations of the Spirit of Chinese Scientists.

 

While noting the innovative genes in Chinese excellent traditional culture, Wan stressed the need to accelerate the realization of sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening at higher levels, with efforts for innovation aimed at achieving national rejuvenation.

 

The event focused on promoting the Spirit of Chinese Scientists, centered around the precious collections of the China Scientists Museum, and highlighted the stories behind these collections.

 

It vividly showcased the contributions of generations of sci-tech professionals under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), who embody the ethos of patriotism, innovation, truth-seeking, dedication, cooperation, and readiness to help the younger generation.

 

A donation and collection ceremony for the China Scientists Museum was also held at the event.

 

Donation and collection certificates were presented to representatives of the scientists and the relatives of the scientists, including Qian Qihu, and Zou Zongping, the granddaughter of Li Siguang. 


The event also announced the list of plays for the programs of publicizing stories of science masters in universities and 2025 promotion action of stage plays of Chinese scientists.

 

A number of carefully produced thematic publicity products were also released.

 

This year's National Science and Technology Workers Day series of activities, themed "committed to innovation-driven development, building China a nation with strength in science and technology," was jointly organized by the CAST, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), and the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

 

During the event, national academic societies, local associations, and grassroots organizations carried out a wide range of activities to further stimulate the innovative vitality of science and technology workers and gather strong social support for the advancement of China’s science and technology and the cultivation of sci-tech talents.
