2025 BRICS Engineering Congress Held in Shenzhen
The 2025 BRICS Engineering Congress took place in Shenzhen on April 24, 2025.
Among the attendees were Mustafa Shehu, President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), Luo Hui, Executive Secretary of the leading Party members group and Director General of the Department of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and Vice President and Joint Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE), as well as Chen Jie, Party Secretary of Harbin Institution of Technology (HIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

The congress, themed "Converging Engineering Development Forces, Co-creating a Brighter Future for BRICS," featured keynote speeches, technical reports, roundtable discussions, and workshops, providing a platform for shared learning and exchange. The aim was to jointly advance engineering education reform, technological innovation, capacity building, and improved governance among BRICS nations.
Several outcomes were announced during the event, including the Initiative to Launch Federation of Engineering Institutions of BRICS (FEIBRICS) and the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE)'s Continuing Professional Development Resources Open to BRICS Engineering Organizations.
On the sidelines of the congress, Luo Hui and officials from the Department of International Affairs, China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE), and CAST Center for Professional Training and Services held working meetings with representatives from the WFEO, Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations (USEA), Federation of Brazilian Engineering Associations, Egyptian Engineers Syndicate (EES), Federation of Arab Engineers (FAE), Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO), Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers (EACE), and Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).
The congress was guided by the CSE and jointly organized by the HIT, Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, and Heilongjiang Association for Science and Technology.
It received support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and saw active participation from 33 engineering institutions and 3 international organizations across BRICS countries and 6 partner nations.
Over 200 representatives from the engineering community attended the event.
