CAST President Wan Gang meets CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Secretary Yuan Jiajun and addresses World Smart Industry Expo 2025

Chongqing, 4 September—Wan Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), held talks on Thursday afternoon in Chongqing with Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

The meeting was also attended by Cheng Lihua, Chairwoman of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Luo Hui, Executive Secretary of the leading Party members group and Director General of the Department of International Affairs of the CAST; and Liu Shangjin, Member of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Standing Committee, Secretary-General and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission.

President Wan thanked the Chongqing municipal authorities for their long-standing support of CAST initiatives. He noted that Chongqing has implemented the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions, carried out the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, and made solid progress in fulfilling major national strategies, resulting in a sustained, upward trajectory of high-quality development.

The CAST, he added, will work closely with Chongqing to act on President Xi Jinping’s key propositions on sci-tech innovation, leveraging the organization’s strengths to meet the city’s needs.

This includes expanding support for attracting and cultivating high-caliber talent, fostering new quality productive forces, and raising public scientific literacy, all with a view to better powering Chongqing’s economic and social advancement.

Yuan Jiajun welcomed the CAST delegation to Chongqing for the World Smart Industry Expo 2025 and expressed gratitude for the CAST’s enduring support of the city’s development.

He voiced hope that the CAST will continue to champion Chongqing’s growth, offering greater guidance and assistance in building a modern industrial system, nurturing sci-tech talent, and commercializing research outcomes, thereby providing a robust underpinning for local economic and social progress.

While in Chongqing, Wan Gang delivered a keynote speech at the World Smart Industry Expo 2025 and conducted a special inspection of the city’s integrated hydrogen-energy development.

Relevant officials from the CAST and the Chongqing municipal government accompanied the activities.
