ISC-CHINA holds 2025 plenary session in Beijing
The Chinese Committee of the International Science Council (ISC-CHINA) held its 2025 plenary session in Beijing on February 28, 2025.
Over 90 members, honorary members, invited experts, and representatives from national societies gathered for the event. Notable attendees included Zhu Yongguan, Chairman of ISC-CHINA; Honorary Chairman Guo Huadong; Vice Chairmen Kang Le and Jiang Jie.
Luo Hui, Executive Secretary and Director General of the Department of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), also attended and delivered a speech.
Representatives from the Bureaus of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) were present and addressed the meeting.
During the session, the list of candidates for the ISC-CHINA election (2025-2028) was approved, and Zhu Yongguan was announced as the new Chairman of ISC-CHINA.
The session heard reports from the ISC-CHINA Secretariat on the work summary for 2024 and the work plan for 2025. It also reviewed the preparation plans for the third ISC General Assembly and the 2026 ISC mid-term meeting.
Zhu Yongguan introduced the ISC's strategic plan (2025-2028). Over 20 experts shared their work achievements and experiences, offering suggestions for the 2026 ISC mid-term meeting.
The session underscored the importance of the 2026 ISC mid-term meeting, which will be held in Beijing, and emphasized the need to leverage this opportunity to foster deep cooperation within the international scientific community.
The session called for continued efforts in talent cultivation and team building, and for creating more opportunities for young and female scientists to engage in international scientific research cooperation.
In addition to the main session, a special workshop on ISC-related topics was held. Discussions focused on international science programs, the work of Chinese committee of international organizations, the involvement of young scientists, and activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
