Luo Hui Meets with CAAAE President for Deeper Ties

Beijing, July 16 — China’s top sci-tech mass organization and Central Asia’s leading engineering accreditor agreed on Wednesday to draft joint education standards and create a China-Central Asia exchange platform for engineers, according to officials who attended the talks.

Luo Hui, Executive Secretary of the leading Party members group and Director General of international affairs at the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), hosted Abdumutalip Abzhapparov, President of the Kazakhstan-based Central Asian Association for Accreditation of Education (CAAAE), at CAST headquarters.

Both sides said cooperation would follow the “new blueprint” sketched by the Chinese and Kazakh Presidents during recent state visits, and pledged to deepen mutual trust in engineering.

Discussions focused on 4 areas: a bilateral mechanism for ongoing dialogue, shared standards for future-oriented engineering education and professional certification, pooled resources for the Continuous Professional Development of engineers, and youth-exchange schemes for early-career engineers.

The CAAAE, founded in 2007 by Kazakhstan’s National Academy of Universities and the Kazakh Engineering Education Law Society, is the only Central Asian body authorized to award the EUR-ACE® label and is a full member of the European Engineering Education Network and Engineers Europe.

The CAAAE is a public non-profit organization in the form of an association of legal entities. The CAAAE was established in 2007, under the name Kazakhstan Association for Modern (Elite) Education (KAZSEE), as an independent public and professional structure affiliated with the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE).

The CAAAE is the only Central Asian body authorized to award the EUR-ACE® label and is a full member of the Engineers Europe.

Representatives from CAST’s Department of International Affairs, the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) Secretariat and the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China also attended the meeting.
